Your Outdoor Gym

by Faith Judson

Summer is here, and many people like to soak up as much of the sun as they can get.

Sometimes it can be hard to go to the gym or workout in the house when the weather is calling to you.

If you want to be able to enjoy being outside and be able to get a workout in at the same time, head to your nearest park. This is the perfect place to have a fun, yet still effective workout, while enjoying the weather. Not sure how to workout at the park?

Warm up by going for a run around the park. This can be a 10 minute jog, or a couple mile run.

After the run, find a park bench and take advantage of it by doing a full body workout.

To work the lower body, perform box jumps, step ups, single leg squats, or rear foot elevated split squats.

To work the upper body, try incline or decline pushups, tricep dips, pike push-ups with feet on the bench, or a high plank, alternating tapping hands on the bench.

These are just some of the exercises that you can perform outside. Get creative, and have fun trying different exercises in a new workout environment. Taking advantage of warm weather is a great way to switch up workouts and challenge yourself in a new way!
