Practice Thankfulness

by Michelle

We all have had to practice for something before. We practice sports, playing musical instruments, baking, learning new exercises, or learning a new language. Whatever skill we want to take on, we need to practice to learn it and to get better! But how often do we think about practicing to have a thankful attitude? This is the season when we get together with friends and family for Thanksgiving to celebrate and have a good time, but do we really spend enough time considering what we have to be thankful for?

We are all extremely blessed in so many ways, but it is often so easy to overlook those things and focus on the negatives and the stressors of life. The more we focus on those things, the less thankful people we become, and we become negative people.

Just like we practice any other skill in life, we should put into practice being thankfuleven after the holidays! The more we do it the better we get at it, and there is always always always something to be thankful for. So I encourage you, along with a challenge for myself, to take some time to reflect and think about the things you are thankful for. Look around you and see all that you have, it’s more than a lot of others; let that inspire you to be a more giving person. Look at all the people that support and encourage you in life; let them know you appreciate them! Take your thankfulness to the next level and share it with others and let it inspire YOU to be the reason someone else is thankful.
