Scrubbing Away Stress

Life has a way of getting a little too busy doesn't it? When that happens, taking care of ourselves somehow gets put on the back burner.

Last week, I took a break from the crazy for an hour to take care of myself. I soaked my feet for 20 minutes, used a homemade foot scrub that I found a recipe for on Pinterest, and painted my nails. Not only did I end up with feet that are ready for summer and sandals, but I also felt much less stressed. The fact that I had taken time for myself paid off in some big ways.

Maybe taking care of yourself for an hour looks like going for a walk, going to the gym, grabbing a coffee with a friend, or doing something like what I did last week. Since foot scrubs can be so easy to make (they also make great gifts!), here's a couple recipes you can try. Just combine all the ingredients and keep it in a sealed jar.

 

Citrus Sugar Scrub

1/2 cup sugar
3 Tablespoons olive oil
8 drops citrus essential oils

Brown Sugar Foot Scrub

1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup coarse Kosher salt
1/2 cup olive oil
2-3 drops essential oil of your choice
